Three months ago today (September 3) we were at the hospital getting ready for and then enjoying McKenna Jane Fariss. It's now been 3 months and we have learned, laughed, and loved every moment (almost)! Here are a few brief observations/conclusions that I have made over the past 3 months...
1) Babies don't "Go" to sleep -- They have to be "Put" to sleep.
2) We only need a 1-bedroom apartment -- When baby sleeps in our bed, a crib is unnecessary, nice furniture to look at though.
3) If I waited to grade papers and return emails as long as it takes for the hospital bureaucracy to bill us, I would be fired (just got (hopefully) the last bill last week).
4) Don't attempt to reason with a newborn! Explaining that they will be fed as soon as we get home and out of the car is a waste of breath. (i.e. "If you keep screaming, you won't make the situation any better")
5) It is hard to leave to teach a 6:30 a.m. class. Not because it's early, but because I do not get to see my daughter and wife before I leave. However, there is not much that can beat coming home and having your daughter grin from ear to ear at the sound of your voice --happy to be home!
