Fun With Condiments Pt. 1

Had a great trip to Abilene and Andrews this past weekend! Grandparents had a blast with McKenna and I think she enjoyed herself also. Who would think that mustard and ketchup could be so amusing, but when Patrick's dad gets ahold of the bottles, McKenna thinks it is the funniest thing she has seen in quite a while. The following 3 videos demonstrate McKenna's amazement...

Long Time, No Post...
The hard part about keeping a blog is that you actually have to update--it doesn't keep itself up. So, at the request of Robin Teakell, here goes.
We took a road trip to West Texas last weekend, and if you have never travelled with a 7 week old, understand that you have about 3 hours from the time you secure the child until all pandemonium breaks loose and screams can be heard from cars in the passing lane. That being said, McKenna had a pretty good trip. Abilene is a good stop for us, and we are fortunate that Chelsea's parents live their and they don't mind us coming, especially bringing the new addition.
It was in Abilene where McKenna made her first Rosa's trip. Because her inheritance is tied to her liking of Rosa's, she was on her best behavior and we enjoyed some mighty fine Mexican food.
After Abilene it was off to Andrews for a few days. We must have looked pretty funny with a fully inflated exercise ball in our Toyota Camry, but please understand, this child will only sleep if she is bounced a minimum of 500 times. It is then, and only then she can be transported to a final resting place.
Being in Andrews it is always good to see my church family and anyone else we might run into around town. Mom and Dad did not mind showing off their grandchild, and it was nice to turn over the reigns for awhile. Seeing my college roommate Will Mayfield and his brood of 4 boys gives me an incredible amount of admiration for the job that he and Krista do. Our hands are full with one, so I have a new appreciation for lots of parents.
We made it back safely to Coppell, and it has been a good 3-4 days. McKenna is only waking up once or twice a night, and everyone is kosher. The pleasantness and good spirits may all change when school starts back up in about 3 weeks and 12-15 hour days are upon us. Until then, we will continue to share MJ with our friends and family and take a few more pictures.

Ready or Not, West Texas here we come!
Baby blanket compliments of Carol Boswell! And Amy Rizzo seemed to enjoy herself as she was able to come by during the lunch break of our SmartBoard workshop. She looked pretty cozy in her car seat, and we can only hope that she stays that docile on her 6 hour trip down I-20 to good ole West Texas.

Fariss Family Fun Weekend
My parents and sister all journeyed to Coppell this past weekend to visit. They say it was to visit us, but I highly doubt that we were the focus. McKenna did great and her facial expressions are priceless. It was great to spend time with my mom and dad as McKenna is growing every day and she seems to change so much. We are truly blessed by such a precious child, and I am thankful for a few days off to spend with her and her mother!
She did great at her first trip to Sunday morning worship at church. Kendall Jennings and Pam Brawner were responsible for the adorable outfit, and she even kept her hair thingy on almost the whole time (as a male, I am not sure the technical name for the thing--bow, headband, etc?).
We can only hope she does this well as we venture out to Abilene/Andrews this coming week. We will be taking the exercise ball, as it covers a multitude of fussiness. As rookie parents, you can imagine how we will be packing the entire nursery to take with us. As a boy scout, our motto was "Be Prepared", and prepared we will be. I'm not sure how we will take apart the crib to get it into the Camry, but we are always up for a challenge. I'm sure the more seasoned parents can offer advice on what we need and what we don't, so any feedback would be helpful, especially before I head down to the U-Haul facility to secure the largest truck.
